BAALO donates BGN 5000 to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support scientific research against Covid-19

The Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Landowners-BAALO, donated the amount of BGN 5,000 to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support a project for scientific research related to the fight against Covid-19 and other infectious diseases. The amount collected is provided by the members of the association, who continue to raise funds to support other institutions and organizations.

“The world is facing an unprecedented threat with the Corona virus pandemic. We believe in the potential of Bulgarian science and the achievements of the scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which gives us hope that our country can contribute to the discovery of a vaccine and medicine through successful research. Therefore, we support BAS, and in particular the four institutes that actively work in this direction”, stated the President of the Association Mr Stayko Staykov. According to him, despite the oncoming financial crisis, business must continue to support socially responsible projects for the benefit of society.

The participants in the project “Science against Covid-19” of BAS, are the Institute of Molecular Biology “Acad.” Rumen Tsanev, the Institute of Microbiology “Stefan Angelov”, the Institute of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering, as well as the Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology with a Museum. They can offer expertise and carry out specific scientific tasks regarding the diagnosis, treatment and creation of vaccines against corona virus SARS-CoV-2. More generally, these activities can grow into a comprehensive strategy to combat infectious diseases and contribute to the readiness to address future health challenges.

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences continues to raise funds to finance scientific developments related to the fight against COVID-19 and other acute infectious diseases. Any assistance is of the utmost importance.
