BAALO makes a donation to the Covid-19 affected Gara Oreshets Home for the Elderly

On May 29^th 2020, the Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Landowners – BAALO,  made a donation to Dimovo municipality in favor of the House for the Elderly in the village of Gara Oreshets. The donation consisted of bed linen and duvets, denatured ethyl alcohol 96%, detergents and washing liquids. In April this year, a large number of the occupants of the home as well as the care staff, were infected with the corona virus. The grant provided is worth nearly BGN 2,000 and is claimed by Dimovo municipality, which continues to raise money and gather donations for two more homes for disadvantaged elderly people.

“I am glad we can help the elderly who need special care. Moreover, the people at the home suffered severely from the corona virus infection,” said the Association’s president Mr Stayko Staykov, adding that the charity campaign to help those affected by the pandemic will continue.

This is the fourth donation that BAALO has made as part of the Association’s “Together Against Covid- 19” campaign. In April this year, the Association donated BGN 5,000 to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support a “Project for scientific developments related to the fight against Covid -19 and other infectious diseases”. In early May, personal protective equipment and disinfectants were provided to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. The assistance was intended for the employees of the Regional Agriculture Services, who were working actively on the ground. The donation was worth BGN 14,423.43 and included: 1000 litres denatured ethyl alcohol /96%/, 6 000 pieces of protective face masks (triple-layered) and double-layered and 24,000 disposable gloves.
