Public Debate on the future CAP on July 25th
A public debate on the future Common Agricultural Policy will take place on 25th July. The meeting, in which the coordinating Unit will be presented, will be held in the Ministry of Agriculture by the invitation of Minister Desislava Taneva.
The talks on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy during the next programming period were launched during the national meeting of farmers in Bulgaria.
The Ministry’s Coordination Group will discuss with the industry the process of negotiating the New Common Agricultural Policy. The aim is to take the most useful and adequate measures in the drafting process of the new CAP. There is still no agreement on the multiannual financial framework but it is expected for that to be achieved by the end of the year. It will then proceed to the finalisation and adoption of the three regulations, which will lay down the rules under the new CAP.
During a meeting with the farmers at the opening of the harvest season, Minister Taneva reminded that Bulgaria defends the position already debated with the agricultural industry and was adopted by the Council of Ministers. The Minister believes that payment ceilings must be a matter of national decision, the percentage of tied support to be maintained and increased alongside the national transitional aid. The strategic analysis, which is prepared by the Institute of Agricultural Economics, is being worked on and will be formally presented at the end of this month.
